Sightron New Dual Bandpass Filter

Sightron’s new filter is scheduled to come up this April. The key features are

  • Reducing red color cast at the corners
  • Natural RGB color balance

See the following comparison test. 1st test image will likely look very familiar when taken with the astronomy-modified consumer cameras.

ToupTek D60 + Modified Canon 6D + White LED flat panel

Since modified cameras tend to exhibit strong red color cast, this filter is optimized for such use.

The red color cast at the edges is minimal, making subsequent image processing much easier.

I will also publish the results obtained using a dedicated astronomy color camera at a later date.

More Blue SD111

There are various SD111 mount couplers for other mounts such as Takahashi and Vixen ete, which allows to easily switch the mount-to-mount. This is one example.

The mount coupler only is available too.

MASUYAMA 32mm/85° Recall Notice

Attention to all owners of the Masuyama 32mm/85° eyepiece: please carefully check whether your unit meets the correct specifications.

The issue is that some units may have a lens element without coating. Such eyepieces with uncoated lenses may have been distributed on the market for some time. Please see the details below.

If your eyepiece looks like the one on the right, it is uncoated. The one on the left is the normal (properly coated) version.

If you find that your product is subject to the recall, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact us at info@hutech.com or ted@hutech.com, and we will arrange a replacement with a new unit.

This recall applies worldwide. If your product is affected, please contact Astro Hutech directly or reach out to the store where you purchased it.

At this time, there is no deadline set for this particular recall.

Based on our investigation to date, no issues have been found with other sizes. However, we will continue to conduct thorough inspections.

MORE BLUE Double-sided Saddle

Small refractors often end up rear-heavy because many accessories sit behind the focuser—diagonal, camera, filter wheel, eyepieces, etc. That shifts the center of gravity far behind the mounting point, which makes balancing on mounts or trackers tricky.

The More Blue AU112 is designed to extend the mounting options forward on the telescope tube. By giving you an additional accessory mounting point in front of the scope, it helps in a few ways;

  • Forward mass placement: You can mount something like a guide scope, finder, or small counterweight toward the front.
  • Moves center of gravity forward: This compensates for the heavy gear at the back.
  • Improves declination balance: Especially useful when running imaging trains with cameras and filter wheels.

See some examples.
