SJ 50/F16

What a scope! I talked to myself while looking thru an eyepiece. “Is this just 50mm aperture??”. The sky was at least better than last attempt.

A telescope set up outdoors at dusk, with a clear blue sky and a lemon tree in the background.

I enjoyed observing the Jupiter. I set Masuyama 1.5x and MOP-15. So it was 80x. Very bright and clean view. 80x view encouraged me to push more. But unfortunately I didn’t have 12.5mm. Another proper eyepiece was 10mm, which takes to 120x. It was definitely too much. Most likely 80x – 100x seems to be the proper mag. with this scope at my backyard.

It’s amazing to see the performance of this small and lightweight scope. 800mm focal length is usually 4 – 5″ They are much bulky and heavier. This scope is just 1.3kg! Grab-n-Go by single hand.

Also 800mm is perfect with 1″ square sensors like Player One Saturn-M.

A detailed view of the Moon, framed by a cyan rectangle, set against a black starry background with tiny yellow stars.

I will try to shoot when the lunar phase become favorable next time.
